Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, I began my adult life as a composer and, at about the same time, purchased my first camera. Since, I’ve written what is commonly referred to as “classical” music, receiving a number of honors, among which, grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, Martha Baird Rockefeller Fund for Music, and a Guggenheim Fellowship. During this time I had simultaneously made photographs, primarily for my own enjoyment. However in the past 15 years or so a love of photography has produced a shift in concentration and a consistent record of photo production and exhibition. I live and work in New York City, and the countryside near Honesdale PA.
